On the Edge: A Figure Skating Melodrama debuted in April of 1998. More than a thousand people followed On the Edge: A Figure Skating Melodrama making it the most popular piece of modern, mainstream, figure skating fiction on the Internet. On the Edge: A Figure Skating Melodrama went on hiatus in 2000, leaving readers desperate to know what happened to Elayne, Alexi, and Sasha. The ending was never revealed.
Dejah, the author of On the Edge: A Figure Skating Melodrama and owner of Private Ice, pulled the figure skating serial for a complete rewrite. The next draft was 173K words, too long for traditional publishers. The original manuscript was spilt into two—then into three—shorter novels. The three books are: On the Edge, Desperate Times, and Unlucky in Love. Four more books are planned for the series. Book 4: Unison and Counterpoint is finished while Book 5: Fall from Grace is nearing completion.
In 2001, On the Edge: A Figure Skating Melodrama aced its first test run in the non-figure-skating-fan population, appearing briefly on Themestream where it acquired a small but enthusiastic following.
In December of 2004, after four long years of searching and over 125 agent letters, on the last possible agent left to contact, the On the Edge Sequence and its author were signed to a representation agreement by Peter Miller, lead agent at PMA Literary and Film, a top New York City literary agency. The series will be marketed to major publishers and movie producers.
